The King Penguin colony in St. Andrew's Bay on the island of South Georgia is one of the largest in the world, consisting of up to quarter of a million of these birds. For scale, check the cruise ship "Silver Cloud" on the extreme left. Te colony is always accupied, but the number of chicks (brown and fluffy) varies from season to season. Taken on the 14th of March 2019. South Georgia is sometimes nicknamed as the "Serengeti of the Arctic" because it offers refuge and breeding grounds to antarctic animals on a massive scale. Other beneficiaris are elephant seals and Antarctic fur seals.
